Gabriel lives in Buenos Aires and has been the resident Dj at milongas and practices at Club Villa Malcolm (1998-2004). And now is Dj resident at the Confiteria Ideal since 2003. He was Dj at Club Independencia in the years 2007-2012. Since 2012 he also works at the Racing Club, where he is also artistic director

He was the creator Unitango Orchestra in 2002, an Orchestra of traditional style, executrix of a typical traditional tangoe . The Orchestra recreates the styles of A. Troilo, O. Pugliese, J. D'Arienzo, C. Di Sarli, A. D ' Angelis, R. Biagi, F. Canaro and A. Piazzolla and it is much in demand for shows and private events.
He is famous all over the world for its Dj Tango courses for which is alwayscalled and "sold out" in the major international festivals of tango.

Born in 1969 -Life begins at 50-, he's been studying tango relentlessly since 2008 going in every festival, milonga, meeting, marathon and tango event across Europe, following Maetros and musicalizadores. Two years ago he started to be a musicalizador in milongas all around Sicily: from Catania to Palermo, Messina and Ragusa.
He joyned as a musicalizador the first and the second edition of the Catania Port Tango Marathon (scheduled for the third too); he is guest dj of the Piazza Armerina Tango Under the Stars edition 2018 and 2019 . He loves music from the '30s, the Canaro's, Tipica Victor and Manuel Pizarro orquestas. With his music he wishes to create the buena onda and to excite curiosity and fun in the milongueros too.
Marcelo Rojas has a CV as musicalizador of Argentine tango decidedly enviable : "passes" music in one of the temples of the tango in Buenos Aires, the legendary Confiteria Ideal, "sounds" in festivals, conferences, in very important milongas of the Argentine capital, and now around the world, from Brazil to Europe. Not only that, it is one of the most popular radio DJs in forces even to the famous tango radio "The 2x4" in Baires. We had a chat with him. Here it is:
What music do you like to "play" in a milonga?
I like to offer all possible variety of orchestras, historical periods, rhythms, styles, so as to allow the dancers to enjoy all the vast repertoire of the tango. This is my constant challenge.
What are your favorite tango artists?
They are so numerous that it would be impossible to mention all them. But as a DJ I have to be as a football referee: never tell the favorite team (orchestra). I have to be completely impartial.
Do you like the electronic tango or do you prefer the orchestras of the golden years?
I have no problem in "playing" both the traditional and electronic. It all depends on what I feel and the needs of the public. For me, no controversy.
A tango dj listen only tango? What else do you listen to?
A DJ should not only listen, but also feel the passion for this task. Knowledge of the history and present of this music is fundamental, as well as understand what is the public sentiment in milonga.
What is the difference between a playlist for the milonga and a playlist for radio?
The fundamental difference is that in milonga is built exclusively to generate the desire to dance in those who are present. Radio music can try to evoke memories, feelings, paths, you can afford to "pass" forgotten artists and new formations.
How did you start doing musicalizador?
I have always been passionate about music. I was born, lived and live in a neighborhood that is the essence of tango, "La Boca." When I was younger (now I am 46 years old) I did musicalizador at birthday parties of my friends, other music, far from the tango. But, see the fate, I started working as a waiter in a milonga, I was 23 and slowly I combined my passion for dj with that for the tango, which was beginning to discover. They have joined forces and are no longer separate. How to dance and hug!
And how did you become musicalizador the "Confiteria Ideal"?
About 13 years ago, the organizers of the milonga on Sunday and Monday at the Confiteria Ideal invited me to do the dj to replace Felix Picherna who had gone to Europe. It worked out great. But actually I had already been musicalizador in other well known milongas: the "Galeria del Tango Argentino" and other milongas.
What differences are in the milongas between Europe and Argentina?
Each reflects the characteristics of their respective peoples. I can speak from Argentina: we are happy, passionate, messy, loyal, melancholy ... it would take so many adjectives to describe us, that our milongas are getting a different surprise. For us, the milonga is life itself!
Who are for you the best European musicalizadores
I really admire European DJs who are dedicated to tango with passion. There are important dancers, musicians, singers, organizers, journalists ... many are involved in this beautiful madness that is the Tango.
